    Steve, when I go to Image, Adjustment, Threshold – the Threshold window is inverted from what you show. I’m adjusting highlights instead of shadows. I don’t know how to get to the same window as in your video.

      Hi Roland,

      If you slide the slider al the way to the left, the shadow areas should be black in the window. If you accept this adjustment, then you can press cmd+i (mac) or ctrl+i (pc) to invert the layer to make the shadow areas white.
